LO FIDELITY ALLSTARS On The Floor At The Boutique (Skint/Columbia) Rating: 6 out of 7 By Ken Micallef Though Lo Fidelity AllstarsÕ Ô98 debut album was a certified dud, this remix CD finds the Brighton-based DJ troupe on their home turf doing what they do best. On the Floor... is a party-wrecking force, an all-purpose, all-genre, multi-era, dance-floor hurricane. Though the introductory track--Lo Fi's ÒYou're Never Alone With A CloneÓ--is more anemic Brit hip-hop, they search far and wide to construct irresistible dancefloor fodder. The styles and eras zip by so fast it's nearly impossible to get bored or even catch your breath. Witnesseth: Trouble Funk's 1982 butt-slammin' goofball classic ÒPump Me Up,Ó Wildstyle Bob Nimble's robotically manic ÒWhat Is It?,Ó Jungle Brothers and Q Tip's sayin' it loud anthem ÒBlack Is Black,Ó Humanoid's breakbeat epic ÒStalker Humanoid,Ó the Feelgood Factor's massively stupid ÒThe Whole Church Should Get Drunk,Ó and lastly, the Tams' 1960s soul hit, ÒBe Young Be Foolish Be Happy,Ó Prodigy and Les Rhythms Digitales thrown in for nasty modern style.
